  • February 2009, BVA and Chester County Conservation District (CCCD) were awarded $141,000 to complete Phase 1 and 2 of the watershed restoration work.
  • Phase 1 of the work will stabilize the severely eroding stream bank next to Strode’s Mill.  The stream bank on the opposite side will be lowered allowing high water to flow out into the floodplain during storm events.
  • Phase 2 of the work will include the design and permitting of stream bank lowering and floodplain restoration along Route 52.
  • Phase 1 also includes the installation of two demonstration rain gardens in the head waters of Plum Run.
  • A stream evaluation for Plum Run was completed by Danielle DiFrederico as part of her Master’s thesis
  • William Penn Foundation funded a comprehensive restoration plan in 2007
  • RETTEW completed the Restoration Plan for Plum Run Watershed February 2008
  • A workshop highlighting watershed stewardship and the Restoration Plan for Plum Run was held at West Chester University in May 2008
  • DEP Growing Greener II Watershed Renaissance Initiative Grant was submitted May 2008 for restoration work throughout the watershed
