West Branch Brandywine Stream Restoration Construction

Package to be Available September 29, 2014 for Upper West Branch
Brandywine Construction
The
Brandywine Valley Association (BVA) will be accepting bids for
two streambank stabilization
and floodplain restoration projects on the Upper West Branch
Brandywine
Creek (Ag-1 WRI Site 37-38 and Ag-1 WRI Site 40-50). The
projects include
the ecological restoration at two sites totaling approximately
2,800 feet of impaired
reaches of the Upper West Branch Brandywine, the floodplain of
Upper West Branch
Brandywine, and associated riparian wetlands. Bidders have the
option of bidding
on one or both projects and are to provide a separate budget for
each project. The
project areas are located on private property in Honey Brook
Township, Chester County,
Pennsylvania. The projects are situated on dairy farms within
actively used pastures.
Work will involve streambank fencing, agricultural stream
crossings, streambank
stabilization, installation of rock cross vanes, J-hooks, mud
sills and toe rock.
All fill materials will be disposed of onsite, out of the
floodplain, and out of any wetlands.
The
bid package can be obtained starting on September 29, 2014
and is available on the
BVA website www.brandywinewatershed.org.
A
mandatory site showing that will include both sites is
scheduled for October 7, 2014, 10:00
AM. All attendees are to meet at the Honey Brook Township

Contractors
must have and include in the package a demonstrated
experience in knowledge
and construction of successful stream restoration projects
incorporating fluvial
geomorphology (FGM). Contractors must be familiar with the
recommendations of
the Pennsylvania Stream Team. Contractors are required to
address all conditions of the
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP)/
United States Army
Corps of Engineers (USACE) stream encroachment approvals
and erosion and sediment
control measures required by the Chester County
Conservation District and PADEP
Chapter 102 regulations. Permits are in hand and issued to
Chester County Conservation
District for the project.
Bid
packages are due by 10:00 AM October 15, 2014 at the BVA
office, located 1760 Unionville-Wawaset
Road, West Chester, PA 19382 and will be opened to the
public at 10:05
AM, the same day.
Contractors
should be ready to start work by November 3, 2014. All
work must be completed
by February 28, 2015.
