Pre-School Winter Environmental Education Series

Registration Form

Join us as we explore our environment throughout the winter season. Each program in the series will include hands-on activities, a craft and snack related to a particular theme. Participants must be between 3 and 5 years of age and must register in advance for the series. Series registration forms can be downloaded from BVA’s or RCVA’s website: www.brandywinewatershed.org or www.redclayvalley.org and mailed, along with a check in the full amount, to the BVA office at 1760 Unionville-Wawaset Road, West Chester, PA 19382. Please make checks payable to: Brandywine Valley Association. All programs will be held at the Myrick Conservation Center located on Route 842, six miles west of West Chester and three miles east of Unionville.

Grown-up participation is required for all programs.

Wings and Things

Examine the movements of birds, fish and other animals as you play games. Go on a hike in search of animal homes. Bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle and make your own bird feeder to take home.

Have fun stretching and relaxing as you learn about animals then try to pose in their shapes. No craft this week.

Groundhog Day

Why is everybody talking about a groundhog? Where have the groundhogs been all winter? Learn how the groundhog and other animals survive during the cold winter months. Check out different animal furs and learn about hibernation and migration.

Can you identify an animal by its tracks? Make your own tracks and compare them to the tracks of different animals. Search the Myrick Center for tracks and signs of animals.

What’s Growing in the Garden?

Spring is here and we have started planting our garden. Visit the garden and greenhouse to see what is growing. Take something home and watch it grow.

Series (five programs) Cost: $40 - BVA/RCVA Members; $50 - Non-members

Please call 610-793-1090 for more details. To register, download a registration form from BVA or RCVA’s website and mail to the BVA office. A check for the full amount of the series is required to reserve a space for your child(ren). A minimum of six participants (maximum 12) is required to run a program. Children with food allergies should bring their own snack.
